Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest optional

Method

  1. Start by placing your softened butter in a large mixing bowl. Beat the butter on medium speed with an electric mixer until it becomes light, fluffy, and very creamy—this usually takes about 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, continuing to beat the mixture on low speed.
  3. Now it’s time to incorporate the star ingredient: sweetened condensed milk. Add it one tablespoon at a time, mixing on low speed until each addition is fully integrated.
  4. If your frosting is too thick, feel free to add a little more sweetened condensed milk, or if it's too sweet, adjust by mixing in a bit more lemon juice.
  5. For an extra zesty finish, stir in the optional fresh lemon zest with a spatula.

Notes

  • Ensure your butter is properly softened before mixing.
  • Add the powdered sugar gradually to prevent a messy cloud.
  • If your frosting ends up too sweet, simply balance it with more lemon juice.
  • Consider adding a drop or two of yellow food coloring for an eye-catching finish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
