Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt ½ cup of butter over low heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, ½ cup yogurt, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon cardamom powder until smooth.
  4. Fold in 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ cup cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon baking powder until just combined, then add in ½ cup chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 to 38 minutes. Allow cooling for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Soak ¼ cup saffron in ½ cup warm milk for about 10 minutes.
  7. In a non-stick pan, combine ¼ cup ghee, ¾ cup granulated sugar, 1 cup whole milk, and 1 cup milk powder. Cook for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  8. Mix the saffron-infused warm milk into the burfi mixture and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  9. Spread the burfi mixture evenly over the cooled brownie layer and press ¼ cup of sliced pistachios into the top.
  10. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours, then cut into squares and serve.
