Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Combine the glaze ingredients in a bowl and brush it over the bacon slices.
  3. Place the glazed bacon in the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Prepare the tangzhong by whisking water and flour in a saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Combine all dry ingredients in a mixer bowl and mix well.
  6. Add the remaining ingredients to the dry mix and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  7. Knead in softened butter and then set aside to rise in a buttered bowl for about 1 hour.
  8. Roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 15 by 18 inches.
  9. Prepare the filling and spread it evenly over the rolled dough.
  10. Sprinkle chopped candied bacon over the filling.
  11. Cut the dough into twelve 1.5-inch strips and roll them tightly.
  12. Place the rolls in a baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let them proof for 1 hour.
  13. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) while the rolls proof.
  14. Bake the rolls for 24 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  15. Mix frosting ingredients until creamy and smooth.
  16. Spread frosting over the warm rolls and garnish with reserved candied bacon.
